-----Who am I and what is this?-----
I am a 26 year old second generation immigrant, aspiring actuary, serial entrepreneur (piles of failures, lightly sprinkled with success) , expert burger-flipper and endurance training junkie.
This is my campaign to raise $$money$$ and awareness for ALS through my journey to the Ironman 140.6 Mont-Tremblant finish line.
-----My story-----
I wasn't living exactly healthy during university. Those who went to school with me probably know what I'm talking about!
Although it was a lot of fun, I found myself wanting to experience greatness.
It started with me quitting smoking a pack a day. Then my friend Billy gave me a 4 times a week, 30 min per session training plan in 2013. (He's the best trainer BTW, ask me for his number, and discount code)
Then I built muscle for 6 months in 2014. MONDAY Chest, TUESDAY Back, WEDNESDAY shoulders, THURSDAY Legs, SATURDAY Cardio.
Then 6 month of sport specific training. I did cross fit before cross fit was cool, LOL. (This one is proprietary, ask Billy!)
Half a year of Triathlon specific training followed: Between 5 and 10 hours per week of swimming, biking and running.
I've complete a half-Ironman in 2015.
2016 is the year I complete a full Ironman.
-----WTF is this Ironman RACE?!?-----
The 140.6 mean 140.6 miles (226km) covered in under 17 hours during race day.
2.4-mile (3.8 km) swim in Lac Tremblant, which in August boasts comfortably warm temperature.
112-mile (180 km) bike course runs through Mont-Tremblant’s forests and low lying mountains.
26.2-mile (42.2 km) run course takes full advantage of the scenic view around Mont-Tremblant.
-----What's in it for YOU-----
The cause: support research for ALS.
Without donating you get: You get daily updates about my training. You get to live vicariously through me and experience second hand what it takes to compete at one of the world's toughest sporting event.
What you get by donating: You get all of the above and you get to support those who are in need (ALS) They are the people who can't train and experience the joy of being healthy even if they wanted to.
-----For the BIG donors-----
If you give $50 or more, I'll make sure to get you something special from the event.
-----CALL TO ACTION-----
The 40 year old beer-belly-dad is expected and embraced. People are okay with average: average income, health, look, and relationships. F*** average.
Be exceptional and experience greatness. If you are my age, you have about 18,000 days left to live (Trust me, I'm an Actuary) and experience life at its fullest.
Exercise and healthy living is a choice that you can make for you. That choice will raise the standard of living for you and those who are close to you as they see your progress.
Those with ALS can be pumped up by the above paragraph the same as you are right now, but they will not have the opportunity to turn that motivation into action until we decide to support the research for a cure.
I choose to be healthy, strong and do what I can to help everyone experience greatness in life. I urge you to do the same and
